         獲8大德國紅點獎及4座IF大獎肯定,又被遠見雜誌專欄報導「教學即實作」的中國科大規劃與設計學院,即將於五月主辦「預見未來─中國科大第一屆國際數位設計研討會暨設計節」,活動分在兩大校區舉行:

 一、5月3日、4日在台北校區舉辦研討會;

      A winner of 8 German Red Dot Awards, 4 IF Awards, and a featured school in Global Views magazine's "Pedagogy and Practice" column, the China University of Technology College of Planning and Design will host “Foreseeing Future-The 1st International Digital Design Symposium & CUTe Digital Design Festival” in May. The event is comprised of two major parts: the first is the 2018 International Digital Design Symposium held at the Taipei Campus on May 3 and 4; and the second is the “2018 International CUTe Digital Design Festival” held at the Hsinchu Campus on May 21 and 22.

    These events bring together numerous distinguished guests from abroad as well as important scholars, teachers, and students from Taiwan to give presentations on topics and works related to digital design and smart technology applications at a dozen seminars as well as ten different exhibitions and competitions. The Symposium's theme,"Foreseeing Future", considers how design educators and creators can use the shared work and collective intelligence of big data, IOT, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, block chain, and digital manufacturing in the context of today's internet and ubiquitous computing environment. It also considers how design thinking and media applications of the past might be changed, opening up new approaches to education and setting future trends in design.

    The Symposium itself consists of two days of morning sessions in which keynote speakers from the United States and Russia as well as well-known domestic scholars present four speeches. In the afternoons, outstanding professors of different fields from the College of Planning and Design's eight departments, plus one from the Department of Information Management, present their ideas in a group discussion on how such areas as architectural design, interior design, visual communication, digital multimedia, interactive design, digital music, video design, and smart living can cross boundaries and be integrated with smart technology applications in representing the most important professional characteristics of the college.

    For the International CUTe Digital Design Festival, ten major exhibition events are planned for the Hsinchu Campus. The creative outputs of teachers and students alike will be presented using the ‘Open Lab.’, with award exhibitions such as ’‘The Odd World of Flowers in Light and Shadow’‘ and ’‘CUTe Future Stars’‘. At the same time, the National Competition of Digital Media Design, with awards in digital animation, game, interactive design, and enterprise sponsorship will be co-presented with this festival. In addition, several international films and well-known directors and curators have been invited to present their works and give in-person presentations and lectures, including director from the 404 International Arts Festival, the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), Exhibitions featuring exciting work from Taiwan and abroad, and the Formosa Festival of International Filmmaker Awards (FFIFA). Through a series of contests, lectures exploring future trends in designs, the goal is to build up the Chinese University of Technology, Hsinchu Campus as a new blue sea for innovative presentations, international collaborations, and future design education, making this event a large annual occasion for the Taiwan design world.

    The organizers wish to express their gratitude for the guidance of the Ministry of Education, the support of co-organizers and sponsors, as well as for the participation of the distinguished guests from both Taiwan and abroad in making it possible to host this international symposium and design festival.
